San Jose del Cabo, in Baja California, has turned into a famous destination due to its art and culture; most of this comes from the Art Walk at the Gallery District, which is just behind the church and the town’s main plaza.

This part of San Jose del Cabo has turned in recent years into Los Cabos’ cultural hub. Sophisticated galleries with original paintings, sculptures, jewelry and photography made by local, national and international artists play a part in the renowned Gallery District. In this same area, in addition to the galleries, you can find some of the best restaurants in town.

All the galleries are open to the general public till 9pm. They usually carry out special events, but the most famous of them is the ‘Art Walk’. Every Thursday, from 5 to 9pm, during the months of October through June, you can take a tour by the 14 galleries that are part of this event, such as: Patricia Mendoza Art Gallery, Casa Dalia, La Sacristia Art & History, El Armario and Muvezi Fine African Art.

An outstanding spot is Ida Victoria Gallery, a three-story venue with original works from local and international artists. The gallery has its own shop and the work of international artists such as Andres Garcia Peña, Eduardo Mejorada and Ezra Katz have been part of the gallery’s exhibits.

Art Walk makes the district come to life to the sound of live music, delicious food, a glass of wine and art everywhere, and transforms itself into a place filled with color with an enjoyable atmosphere for both locals and tourists.

A stroll around San Jose del Cabo’s Gallery District cobbled streets is an experience you cannot miss during your visit to Los Cabos.
